The article shows that the original Skein hash algorithm, which was developed as part of the competition for the new standard SHA-3 of the National Institute of Standards and Technology USA (NIST) and was one of five finalists can be modified to improve its operation efficiency in systems with multicore processors, which are used in almost all modern desktop and mobile devices. Analysis of the few publications that dedicated to such improvement of the original algorithm shows that all the authors focus on improving efficiency by optimizing the algorithm computations parallelization because computing speed was one of its main weaknesses. The simplification the original algorithm was not considered before and became the main purpose of the article. | ||||||||||

Real magnonic crystals - periodic magnetic media for spin wave (magnon) propagation - may contain some defects. We report theoretical spin wave spectra of a one dimensional magnonic crystal with an isolated defect. The latter is modeled by insertion of an additional layer with thickness and magnetic anisotropy values different from those of the magnonic crystal constituent layers. The defect layer leads to appearance of several localized defect modes within the magnonic band gaps. The spectrum of exchange spin waves in a magnonic crystal (periodic magnetic multilayer) with diffuse interfaces is derived for a model with a cosine-like profile of the uniaxial anisotropy value at the interfaces. The dependence of the band gap size upon the interface thickness and the depth of modulation of the anisotropy value is analyzed. In particular, it is shown that diffuse interfaces may lead to a magnonic spectrum in which band gaps have size equal to or even larger than those in the model with sharp (infinitely thin) interfaces (Kronnig–Penney model). | ||||||||||

Using the transfer-matrix method, we have developed a theory of exchange spin waves in a thin cylindrical magnonic crystal (periodically layered all-ferromagnetic nanowire) with diffuse interfaces. The magnonic spectrum and the frequency dependence of the reflection coefficient of spin waves from a junction between a homogeneous magnetic nanowire and a magnonic crystal have been calculated and compared. Diffuse interfaces with linear and sinusoidal profiles of variation in the uniaxial anisotropy value have been considered, also allowing for asymmetry in the relative thicknesses of either main layers, or interfaces, or both. We have found that, although the thickness and profile of interfaces have a significant effect on the size and position of the magnonic band gaps, the smoothing of interfaces does not lead to disappearance of the band gaps. We report a continuous medium theory of dispersion and scattering of spin waves propagating in thin nanowire magnonic waveguides with curved regions. Assuming that the static magnetization is aligned along the waveguide, the curvature leads to a “geometrical” effective magnetic field term that is proportional to the square of the ratio of the exchange length to the radius of curvature of the waveguide. The term is small enough to favor the use of bended nanowire waveguides in planar magnonic data architectures. Within the framework of the solid state theory, an expression for the spectrum of spin waves propagating in a thin magnetic nanowire curled into a helix (spiral) is obtained. Its modification under the effect of a periodic modulation of the helical pitch is analyzed. We investigate analytically the occurrence of magnonic defect states in the exchange regime for the system geometry with the defect linking two semi-infinite superlattices at the same symmetry points. The frequency ranges forbidden and allowed to defect states are determined in the low-frequency region. Non-overlapping frequency ranges allowed to either even or odd defect states are found to occur within each forbidden gap in higher frequencies. We report a theoretical study of the spin-wave band spectrum of magnonic crystals formed by stacking thin-film magnetic layers, with general assumptions about the properties of the interfaces between the layers. The use of the Barnaś-Mills magnetization boundary conditions has enabled us to systematically trace the origin of the magnonic band gaps in the spin-wave spectrum of such systems. We find that the band gaps are a ubiquitous attribute of a weakened interlayer coupling and a finite interface anisotropy (pinning). The band gaps in such systems represent a legacy of the discrete spin-wave spectrum of the individual magnetic layers periodically stacked to form the magnonic crystal rather than resulting from Bragg scattering. | ||||||||||
